Standard & Pro Editions
Both editions include the full core pipeline. Pro adds on-device LLM consolidation and deeper export options for users who want to go further.
The Short Version
The vast majority of what makes Harvestry useful — transcription, screenshot capture, the interactive HTML export, the transcript panel, annotations, and even Claude API consolidation — is in Standard. If you're not sure which edition to buy, start there.
Pro adds two things that matter to a specific kind of user: the ability to run LLM consolidation entirely on your Mac without any data leaving the device, and the ability to export your study documents directly into Obsidian or any Markdown-based knowledge base. If either of those sounds important to you, Pro is worth it.

What Pro Adds, in Detail
On-Device LLM Consolidation via Ollama
Standard includes Claude API consolidation, which sends your transcript to Anthropic's servers over HTTPS to generate structured study notes. Pro adds the ability to run the same consolidation step using a local Ollama model instead — entirely on your Mac, with no data leaving the device.
This matters in a few specific situations:
- Lectures containing sensitive, confidential, or personally identifiable content you don't want to send over a network
- Users who prefer a fully air-gapped workflow for privacy reasons
- Users who want to avoid per-token API costs on high-volume processing
- Anyone who already has a capable Mac (32 GB+) and wants to use local models like Gemma 4 or Qwen3 that produce excellent results on Apple Silicon
For guidance on which Ollama models work best on different Mac configurations, see Choosing an Ollama Model.
Configurable Consolidation Prompt
Both Standard and Pro send the same default system prompt to the LLM — asking it to produce structured Markdown with topic headings, bullet summaries, and key takeaways. Pro users can edit this prompt in Settings → Consolidation → System Prompt.
This is useful if you want the model to produce something different — a Q&A format instead of bullet points, a specific academic citation style, a more concise executive summary, or output in a language other than English. A Reset to Default button restores the original prompt at any time.
Obsidian & Markdown Export
In addition to the self-contained HTML export, Pro will add a Markdown export that writes your study document directly into a folder you choose — compatible with Obsidian, Logseq, Roam, Bear, or any tool that reads Markdown files from a directory. Screenshots are saved alongside the Markdown file and referenced with relative paths, so the document stays portable.
This is designed for users who already maintain a personal knowledge base and want Harvestry to feed into it automatically rather than managing separate HTML files.
